Smiles, Camping, Preschool, and Play Date

Once again, I am playing catch up! I picked a few pictures from the past month to do a quick update on some of our happenings. I posted in reverse order- ooops- so sorry!

Addison and I met my friend Sarah and her baby Blake for lunch and then went over to their house for a while. Addison and Blake got along just fine. They seem to have the same laid back personalities! Blake was precious and was soo good at lunch! She and Addison let their mommies do a lot of visiting!

I love back shots! They were watching a Praise Baby DVD. I had never heard of these and it was sweet!

Here is a picture from Addison's first day of preschool! We took a couple of pictures before we left the house, and this one is my favorite. Addison gets her blue eyes from my dad's side of the family. My Pap Paw had real blue eyes and so does my dad. Mine are blue, but nothing like this!

Here is at drop off. Addison did fine going on in the class. Her daycare class is on the left side of the hall, just a little ways down. They take her and several of the other children across the hall and back on preschool days. She seems to be enjoying it a lot! She has a little boy friend from Mother's day out that is going to preschool, too. She was glad to get to play with Ethan again!

Just for fun, Addison, Grant, Gunner and I went camping one Friday night...in the backyard...for about an hour!:) It was fun, but a storm was moving in so we had to go inside. Grant and I were devastated-HeeHee! Yes, Addison wore a necklace and bracelet to go camping!

Our tent! Addison thought this was neat! But what she really liked was ....

Yummm! Smores are the best!

Here is Addison at her first dentist appointment! Again, this is in reverse order so here Addison is trying to show off her clean teeth. This is Miss Amy. She has been cleaning mine and Grant's teeth for a couple of years. She was sooo good with Addison!

Cleaning those sparkly whites!

Addison checking Little Baby's teeth

Getting ready to get started. Amy did everything on Little Baby first which really seemed to help! I am really glad we brought her! Overall, Addison did great!
We've had some fun times this summer! I love this stage with Addison! She is so much fun and we can hang out and do things and she gets excited and likes to plan!!!! Being a mother is great!

In the need of prayer

I have weaned myself from late night blogging/crying episodes. There are so many stories out there that just break my heart. Grant gets mad at me for reading these blogs and crying. He doesn't understand why I do it. I don't either, except for the fact that I can be one more person lifting up prayer. Tonight from Kelly's Korner I found this family's blog. I couldn't even tell Grant about it because I was choking back tears. Since he has gone to bed, I have read their entire blog and have shed many tears. Please take time to pray for this man and his newborn baby girl. His wife went to be with Jesus today.

Parenting

Today I received my Parenting magazine. I love getting these magazines. Of course, the advice is quite different from the Cosmo articles I use to read! On the last page, there is always a top 10 list. These are usually quite humorous! Today the list read "Ten things I never thought I would say!" There were several that made me smile and go "yep" said that one today. So I thought I would do a little list of my own...

10 things I never thought I would say before becoming a parent!

1. No men don't stand up and poop. They sit down. (Can you imagine??!! Most have trouble aiming the #1)

2. I am so excited about seeing The Little Einstiens! Come on! Lets go! Little Einstiens! Yeah!

3. Because I said so. THAT'S why!

4. How much milk did you pump today?

5. Please bend over! I need to check for poop!

6. Let's not take a bath tonight. We can just wait until in the morning.

7. Just wipe it on mommy's pants.

8. Is that yogurt or milk in that cup and where did you find it?

9. Please look up so I can get that huge booger out of your nose.

10. Please don't say "my hoo hoo is wiggling." Hoo hoos are private. That is why we wear panties on them. Lets pick another body part to sing about.

No dirty diapers please!

On Saturday, Addison and I went to a baby shower for Danya, a friend of mine from work. The girls hosting the shower did a great job and had some games and activities to play. Addison really enjoyed helping Danya open the presents...

However, she did not enjoy one of the games! I had played this before. Various candy bars were melted into diapers. The purpose of the game is to guess what candy bar the diaper holds! Just think, melted chocolate smashed around in the diaper. Everyone closely studying the mess, smelling it, and passing the diapers around. Addison was just watching everyone- especially Holly and me. Holly offered Addison one of the diapers for baby Sydney and you should have seen her face! She was mortified! She didn't answer she just made a horrible face and kinda backed away. I don't think she was ever convinced of what was really in the diapers! Someone took this picture as Holly and I were almost hysterical and Addison was just very confused! I really wish you could have seen her face!

There are several people who are pregnant that we are close to. We are going to have to really prepare Addison for those dirty diapers!

I'm squishy!

Tonight all was quiet. I was reading blogs, Grant was watching Fox news when out of the blue, "Mom, come check on me!" I answerd, "Addison- still and quiet! Mommy will come check on you in a few minutes!" 3 seconds later..."WAAAAA" Grant went in and checked on her. He came out and once again "MOM!" So I put my computer down and walked in there.
Me "What is it baby?"
Addison "I rolled like this on Tinkerbell and it hurt."
Me "Yes, baby. Tinkerbell is kinda hard."
A "Tinkerbell isn't hard!"
Me"Well, she isn't squishy like Baby Sidney."
A "Oh. She's not squishy. But you are squishy, Mommy."

I'm squishy. Lovely compliment from my 3 year old!

The Right Decision

I keep meaning to post on Addison's new school, but just haven't. I have yet again misplaced my memory stick or let me rephrase that...My memory stick has disappeared again. I'm not blaming anyone, but it could be hidden by the same person who hid my favorite head band on her Daddy's T-shirt shelf or her Daddy's brush in his chair. But like I was saying I'm not blaming anyone!

Addison started to daycare at the church we are attending on July 15. This was a big decision for us! The final straw was when Addison asked me one morning where she was going, and it honestly took me a few minutes to figure it out myself. This summer, she was with 3 different people in 4 days. She was at Ms. Janice's house 2 days, MDO 1 day, and at home with her grandmothers 1 day. It has been such a blessing for us to have one of her grandmother's here each week. I know each of them has developed a relationship with Addison that will last her lifetime! We thought though it was time for her to have some consistency in her schedule! She got to where she wasn't napping, and like I said b/f, we were all confused about where she was going each day. She also was going to be starting preschool at the church, and would be able to attend the daycare b/f and after preschool twice a week. So...she was able to start 4 days a week at the daycare at church. She has seemed happy there, and has adjusted quickly. Today was open house for Preschool! I think all the children really enjoyed it. I am excited about her starting that, too! I have felt confident in our decision to send her to daycare, but tonight I felt a peace about it that I didn't expect...

My baby said The Lord's Prayer! Watch here...

Grant and I were both so moved! How precious is that! Daycare had sent home a copy of The Lord's Prayer a couple of weeks ago, so I knew they were working on it. I thought I needed to say it with her, too, but after a couple of nights, I forgot. We read from her Bible each night and say her nighttime prayers though! Sunday at church she said the prayer in unison with everyone else, but today was the first day she said it alone.

I am sooo proud of her!

We also started back to gymnastics tonight- so she is in her leotard in the video.

Praise God for signs even when we don't ask for them!
